    Sir David Scott, 1st of Buccleuch was the son of Sir Walter Scott of Branxholm. He died in March / He was created Baron of Buccleuch [Scottish Barony] on 21 May He lived at Branxholm, en: Robert Scott, Unknown Scott, Walter Scott, Janet Scott, of Buccleuch, Isabella Scott. It is about 6 miles southwest of Jedburgh. Although it is not listed on modern maps, the town appears in Blaeu’s Atlas, , which was reproduced in Upper Teviotdale and The Scotts of Buccleuch by J. Rutherford Oliver, Hawick, There are now scarcely any vestiges of its ancient consequence, except some remains of its tower.
